    1955 INSIGNIA, ME with LIGHT BORDER
    BLUEBIRD TROOP CREST
    This is a Merrow Edge Troop Crest for the Intermediate Girl Scouts of the 1950s.  With the exception of some prototype badges in 1954, 1955 was the first time that crests and badges were issued with a finished edge.
    The LIGHT BORDER on this Crest pin-points the date as 1955.
    The light green border is thought to be leftover thread from the 1948 Bright Green badges, thus the border on the
    very early
    1955 ME crests are brighter.  This was taken off a
    uniform
    , but there are NO sewing holes, and only a few sewing marks around the outside edge.
